2020 Recipient of Dr. Champ Baker Jr. Young Professional Athletic Trainer Leadership Award Announced

Lauren Holliday - Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta



The Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association has announced Lauren Holliday as the recipient of the Dr. Champ Baker, Jr. Young Professional Athletic Trainer Leadership Award. The award was created through the generosity of Dr. Champ L. Baker, Jr. of the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA with the intent of assisting with continuing education endeavors for one or more GATA Young Professional members in their first 12 years of certification as an athletic trainer.

I am beyond excited and honored to be selected as the recipient of the Champ Baker Jr. Young Professional Award.I am grateful for the opportunity that this award allows to build upon my education and to use that knowledge to continue to better myself in my practice and community.As an athletic trainer it is one of my greatest goals to make a substantial impact on those I work with and ultimately leave behind a legacy worth being remembered for. - Lauren Holliday

Lauren Holliday works for Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians as a physician extender and for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as an athletic trainer for Stockbridge High School. Lauren prides herself on providing the best care for both patients and athletes while building upon her current knowledge base to keep up to date with best practices. She approaches each athlete and patient with a systematic approach and focuses on treating the person as a whole and not just the injury or illness. This allows Lauren to form personal connections and establish a bond that better serves to heal, promote education, and restore them to what makes them happy. Lauren is praised for her tireless work ethic and ability to think outside the box in order to go above and beyond to care for her athletes. Lauren is also considered an excellent ambassador for athletic trainers in her community, as she is often participating in community health fairs and career day presentations in an effort to build excitement for the athletic training profession in future generations.


The Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association is an organization committed to the education of its members and enhancement of the profession of athletic training, leading to better healthcare for the population which it serves. The GATA is proudly composed of over 1000 licensed athletic trainers – ranging from professional, collegiate, and high school teams to industries, physician offices, and rehabilitation clinics – all working together to promote and practice the profession of athletic training within the state of Georgia.
