University of Oregon ( 2 - MS degrees - Sports medicine and Biomechanics)
Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions - current PhD candidate
Current AT Setting: Sports Medicine Research... and this is the first year in almost 30 years that I haven't also been at a high school!
Employer: Emory University - Sports Performance And Research Center (SPARC)
Years at current job: 1 year - it's a brand new facility (but I have been an AT for 30 years)
Who are your “athletes”? Literally "everyone" - our research can impact any athlete across all sports and ages
What’s your schedule like? Like most settings - it really varies. Depending on our current studies and data collection I can have some very long days.
What does your facility/ATR look like? SPARC is a brand new research facility partnership with Emory University and the Atlanta Falcons.
Have you been to any exciting locations/events with this job? The technology here makes every day an exciting location!
What do you like most about your job? Interacting with the research subjects and feeling like I make an impact on helping make sports safer for all participants.
Any advice for an AT who wants to work in this setting? Reach out for a mentor. And you've got to love Data. But we do need more ATs focused on research to translate from the lab to the field.
